Launching of the ‘Love Bus’ Libreng Sakay Program in NCR (Speech) 9/13/25

Marcos Jr. joins the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in launching the ‘Love Bus’ Libreng Sakay Program in the National Capital Region (NCR) during a ceremony in Valenzuela City. In his brief remarks, the President recalls that the ‘Love Bus’ program was initially launched in the 1970s when his mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, was then the Governor of Metro Manila. Now, as it makes a return in NCR, the Love Bus units are now electric, making it more cost-efficient and supporting the country’s transition to cleaner and more sustainable mobility. “At mayroon po tayong programa na para sa mga — unang-una, para sa mga PWD ay libre na, para sa mga senior citizens libre na rin, at malapit na lalabas na, para sa mga estudyante may 50 percent naman na discount,” he states. The Love Bus specifically aims to provide free public transportation during peak hours along designated routes. It is implemented through Service Contracting, where the government contracts public utility vehicle (PUV) operators to provide transportation for commuters. Additionally, it seeks to reduce the financial burden on commuters, especially students and workers. “Kaya tangkilikin po ninyo ang ating bagong 'Love Bus' para makabawas pasahe at makapag-savings nang kaunti. Mabawasan ang traffic, mabawasan ang pollution dahil nga electric at malaking tulong po ito para sa ating sitwasyon dito sa Metro Manila,” the Chief Executive adds. “Kaya maraming, maraming salamat po. At sana po itong aming bagong Love Bus ay maging mas maginhawa po ang inyong araw pagpunta sa trabaho at sa pag-uwi,” President Marcos Jr. ends in his message.
