Among those featured are songwriter and heir to Madagascan royalty Andy Razaf (also known as “Croonin’ Andy”), pioneering country composer Happy Lawson (composer of “Anytime”), international stars Cliff Edwards (“Ukulele Ike”), Johnny Marvin (“Honey Duke”), and Harry Reser, vaudevillians Harry Frankel and Sterling Grant, and the great Wendell Hall, whose hit recording of “It Ain’t Gonna Rain No Mo’” was highly influential. Highlights include Lawson’s own performance of “Anytime” as well as his provocative “Love, Honor and Oh Baby!”, Razaf’s early scat singing, Frankel’s ode to Wendell Hall’s hit, and Johnny Marvin’s marvelously relaxed and jazzy Harmony selections.
