The West Somerset Railway's last Great Western 175 event of the year was the theme for there annual Autumn Steam Gala. For those who don't know this year is the 175th anniversary of the Great Western Railway so many railway events over 2010 will have a Great Western theme to celebrate this important milestone. Unlike at last year's Autumn Steam Gala the West Somerset seem to slip up on there locomotive line up but none the less it turned out to be a good gala. The full line up for the gala is as follows -- |GWR 4-6-0 'Castle' Class 5029 'Nunney Castle' |GWR 4-6-0 'King' Class 6024 'King Edward I' |GWR 4-6-0 'Hall' Class 4953 'Pitchford Hall' |LMS 'Black 5' Class 44767 'George Stephenson' |BR(W) 2-6-2T 5101 'Large Prairie ' class 4160 |GWR 2-6-2T 4575 'Small Prairie Tank' Class 5542 |GWR 2-6-2T 4575 'Small Prairie Tank' Class 5553 |GWR 2-6-2T 45xx 'Small Prairie Tank' Class 4566 (Does not feature in this video) |WSR 2-6-0 9351 'Mogul' Class 9351(Does not feature in this video) Standby locomotive based at Williton -- 34046 'Braunton' The video mainly features shots from stations and the Lineside, highlight of the day would be linesiding at Mineral Line Bridge and the Dunster shunt with 5553, it was nice to have the Dunster shunt back again for the Autumn gala, I made sure I came back to Dunster to watch this in action. Other highlights were also the visit of the Black 5 and the Minehead shed and Williton sheds being open to the public, however I only visited Minehead shed to check the progress of 7828 'Odney Manor', it was thought she would be ready in time for this gala but as I saw she still need a lot of work done, be good to have her back soon. Hall class 6960 was also expected to return for the gala but could not be completed in time and is still under restoration but near completion. For the day I was joined with JBTEvans, theonlyadsrulz and GJDobbzy and I thank them for a good day out. The weather for the day was good with sunny spells and light wind the rain did start later in the day. However things did not go successful near the end of the day as news came that 5542 failed on a train at Crowcombe Heathfield, which then caused delays on the last 2 trains to Bishops Lydeard and Minehead. Trains I rode on were -- |0900 Bishops Lydeard -- Dunster with 6024 |1108 Dunster -- Watchet with 4953 |1259 Watchet -- Dunster with 5029 |1427 Dunster -- Minehead with 5542 |1700 Minehead -- Bishops Lydeard with 4953 Shots that feature in the video are -- 6024 brings the stock for the 0900 to Minehead into Bishops Lydeard 5553 arrives into Dunster with the goods 4953 arrives into Minehead 4953 departs Watchet 44767 is seen at Mineral Line Bridge (was not trespassing as i was stood behind a fence) 6024 arrives into Watchet 6024 departs Watchet with a Bishops Lydeard service 5029 arrives into Watchet 5029 departs Dunster 44767 arrives into Dunster 44767 departs Dunster 5553 shunts the goods at Dunster 5542 arrives into Dunster 5029 departs Minehead 5542 departs Minehead 4953 stands on shed at Minehead 7828 'Odney Manor' is seen inside Minehead shed under restoration Enjoy!
