As-salamu alaikum, everyone! Welcome to my channel. Today, I'm making White Benachin with lamb—a popular rice dish in The Gambia and Senegal. It is sometimes called Jollof Rice or Thiebou Yapp, which means "Benachin with meat." This recipe serves 6–8 adults. Ingredients: • 6 cups of rice (any variety of your choice; I used jasmine rice) • 4 lbs of lamb (cut into medium/large pieces, including the bone) • 1 large tomato, finely diced • 1 medium onion, finely diced • 1 habanero pepper, chopped (adjust to your spice preference) • 1 cup of oil • 1/4 cup of soy sauce • Salt • Beef bouillon (the tomato one, or anyone you have) • 6 cups of water +2 more after the meat is cooked • 2 tbs Chillie flakes • 3 tbs Black pepper • 2 tbs Garlic powder • About 4 spoonfuls of the spice blend Spice Blend (Make a large batch and store it in the fridge—it's great for many other dishes!) • 2 bulbs of garlic • 1 inch of ginger • 4 bunches of spring onions • 2 habanero peppers • 3 small colorful bell peppers (the ones that look like 🌶, usually red, yellow, and orange) • 1/4 of a large green bell pepper • 1/2 of a small onion Blend in a food processor or pound it in a pestle and mortar video on how to make my spice blend • Senegambian Flavor Boosting Herb Blend!
