Reframed- A history of the first South Asian Licentiates

Our special series of Reframed events reveal our collections in new ways – reframing our heritage to address issues of equality, diversity and inclusion. They feature the College’s Heritage team, and some special guests. In partnership with the University of Strathclyde and Museum Galleries Scotland, this talk explores the history of the first South Asian Licentiates at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. As one of the oldest medical bodies in Britain, the College was inextricably linked to the British Empire, and its global reach extended far beyond the immediate medical community of Glasgow. Join us as we trace the experiences of South Asian practitioners in Scotland and examine the College’s historic relationship with race, colonialism and Empire.
