It operates as train number 16587 from Yesvantpur Junction to Bikaner Junction and as train number 16588 in the reverse direction, serving the states of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka. The 16587 / 88 Yesvantpur Junction–Bikaner Junction Express has one AC-1 Tier, one AC 2-tier, three AC 3-tier, seven sleeper class, six general unreserved and two SLR (seating with luggage rake) coaches . It doesn't carry a pantry car. The 16587 Yesvantpur Junction–Bikaner Junction Express covers the distance of 2,442 km in 50 hours 10 mins (49 km/h) and in 53 hours 05 mins as the 16588 Bikaner Junction–Yesvantpur Junction Express (46 km/h). The 16587 / 88 Yesvantpur Junction–Bikaner Junction Express runs from Yesvantpur Junction via Arsikere Junction, Hubli Junction, Davangere, Gadag Junction, Bijapur, Solapur, Pune Junction, Kalyan Junction, Vasai Road, Surat, Vadodara Junction, Ahmedabad Junction, Marwar Junction, Luni Junction, Jodhpur Junction to Bikaner Junction. As the entire route is fully not electrified , it is hauled by Diesel & Electric Loco Shed, Krishnarajapuram based WDP-4D on its entire journey. Bikaner is headquarters of Bikaner railway division. Bikaner railway station is at an elevation of 226 metres (741 ft) and was assigned the code – BKN. Bikaner is served by more than 21 pairs of trains each day with multiple daily connections to Delhi, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Mumbai and Chandigarh. Within Rajasthan, there are also multiple daily trains available for Jodhpur, Jaipur, Nagaur, Ratangarh, Churu, Barmer, and Jaisalamer. There are also daily trains to Kota. Bikaner railway station was constructed in 1891 with a Rs. 3,46,000 donation by Rai Bahadur Dewan Bahadur Sir Kasturchand Daga, a known trader from the city. In 1889, the two states of Jodhpur and Bikaner formed the Jodhpur–Bikaner Railway to promote railway development jointly within the Rajputana Agency. In 1891 the 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in)-wide metre-gauge Jodhpur–Bikaner line was opened. In 1901–02, the metre-gauge line was extended to Bathinda. The Jodhpur–Bikaner track, along with the link to Phulera, had been taken in/before 1991 for conversion to 5 ft 6 in (1,676 mm) broad gauge. According to a Press Information Bureau release issued in 2008, the Jodhpur–Merta City–Bikaner–Bathinda line was broad gauge. The Bikaner–Rewari line was converted to broad gauge during the period 2008–2011. Bikaner Heritage Rail Museum at Bikaner displays items related to the Jodhpur and Bikaner Railway era. Yesvantpur Junction railway station also Yeshwanthapura Junction railway station (station code: YPR) is one of the three important stations which serves the city of Bangalore which is located in Yesvantpur locality. It is one of the developing stations of Bangalore created for reducing the rush at Bangalore City railway station. This station is located on the Bangalore–Pune & Bangalore–Hyderabad main lines. Being a main location, all trains bound towards Hubli & Hyderabad either originate from here or the ones from Bangalore City have a stop at this station. Direct trains to major Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Indore, Bhubaneswar, Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ajmer, Jaipur, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Howrah, Chennai, Thiruvunanthapuram,Mangaluru, Kannur, Kozhikode, Tumakuru, Ahmedabad, Puducherry etc. also originate from Yeshwantpur. Yesvantpur Junction railway station has a total of 6 platforms out of which platform 1,2,4,5 and 6 are platforms for originating & terminating trains. Platform 3 is generally used by passing-through trains. There are two overbridges, one connecting platform 1 and 2, and another from platform 2 to platforms 3,4,5 and 6.
