1963 Tonka Back Hoe Pickup Truck Restoration Badly Rusted Semi BackHoe Restore

I purchased this 1963 Tonka Back Hoe Pickup Truck on eBay January of 2023 for $96.30 including shipping. It was extremely rough and half the paint fell off during transport and was just laying in the bottom of the box. I absolutely love how rough this truck was yet entirely complete. This was a very straight forward restoration and outside of the rust pitting everything was in great shape. Only the digger bucket had some slight bent up damage. I sandblasted and filled all the metal pits with JB weld. I use high temp JB Weld as body filler since it contains metal particles that can be powder coated electrostatically and it will also withstand the powder coating bake cycle at 400 degrees. I then powder coated it with high build primer powder which allowed me to wet sand everything completely smooth, after which I applied a final coat of powder. The hub caps were too rough to nickel plate so I machined a new stamp and die mold to make new ones. After machining the die I laser cut the blank profiles and stamped them in my Press. I love how the hub caps turned out and will definitely be making more parts using this same process in the future. (Possibly some custom ones as well). I prefer to make new axle shafts due to how they must be grinded during disassembly, and overall it just results in a better final outcome. Some parts were replaced, like the windshield, tires and plastic seat. I intend to create a liquid silicone rubber injection mold to recreate tires eventually, hopefully in 2025. I love how this truck came out and enjoyed adding it to my collection. Thank you for everyone's patience while waiting for a new upload. After a rough car accident the end of last year it took a long time to get back on my feet and catch up with everything. I look forward to heading into next year hopefully back on track with video uploads. I plan on mixing in some ride on toys, pedal cars, and other items in the near future.
