We made it to the FINISH LINE — and what a season it has been. Episode 12 wrapped up Season 38 with a globe-spanning finale that took teams from Paris to New York City, and we had an absolute DREAM panel to help us break it all down. 👑 Special Guest: James Wallington (TAR 32 Winner) Joining us for the finale is none other than James Wallington, one half of the Season 32 winning team and true royalty in the Amazing Race recap and podcasting world. James brought: -Deep production insight -Historical context from past finales -Creative ideas for how this finale could have been leveled up If you love strategic analysis and old-school TAR knowledge, James absolutely delivered. 🔥 Tucker & Eric RETURN — Finale What-Ifs We were thrilled to welcome Tucker & Eric back to the panel after fans loved their Episode 5 appearance. As the other dominant force of the season — with four historic wins in a row — they weighed in on: -How this finale might have played out if they hadn’t been eliminated in Athens -Where momentum really matters in a final leg -Which challenges would have suited their strengths Their behind-the-scenes tea added so much perspective to how narrow the margins really are at this stage of the race. 🧳 The Paris Exit & Finale Structure Debate We all agreed on one thing right away: Izzy & Paige deserved their own Episode 11 elimination. Dragging that into a “To Be Continued…” finale would have done them a disservice. That said, James floated an interesting alternative: A KOR (Keep On Racing) leg — similar to Season 25 — allowing FOUR teams into the finale. We all agreed Izzy & Paige, as NYC natives, would have brought something really special to this final leg. 🌆 New York City: ICONIC LOCATIONS, NO QUESTION Production absolutely FLEXED with the locations this finale delivered: Rappelling down the spire of the Empire State Building 👉 A feat only 20 people have ever done before Delivering cookies to Sesame Street, complete with unforgettable character interactions Top-tier visuals. Top-tier nostalgia. Truly iconic moments. 🤔 But… Where Was the DIFFICULTY? Here’s where the panel got critical — in the best way. With: ❌ No Roadblocks ❌ No Detours ✅ Three Active Route Infos ✅ A final Memory Challenge …the leg looked incredible, but left very little room for placement shake-ups. Panel Suggestions to Beef It Up: Scott’s idea: Add letters collected during the Empire State Building rappel that teams must unscramble for their next clue — similar to what was done in James’ season. James’ idea: Make teams BAKE the cookies themselves before delivering them. Consensus: The fabric-store delivery was the most difficult task — and even that could have been dialed up further.
