Ivo Fabijan Mrvelj (1950-2006) was one of the most influential, respected and well loved Croatian and Hercegovian artists. (The Lyrics in English are below) His songs are anthems of love that Croats have for their country and speak about prosecution of ordinary people by the Communist rule simply because they loved their Homeland. This video was shot in Siroki Brijeg, HR Herceg-Bosna in 1990. on the day of Declaration of Independence. As the country was fighting for independence and freedom from Communist aggression & pro-dominant Serbian and paramilitary Serbian forces. Many young people in the crowd later volunteered to defend their country Herceg-Bosna and Croatia and gave their lives for freedom and independence, some of them only 16 years old. This video and its translation in English is for Educational Purposes and fan art. The Song Kad Sklopim Oci-(When I close my Eyes) I Dream of Croatia sings about the suffering of Croats all over the world, as they were prosecuted and hunted by the Communist Regime (UDBA), many of them killed because they expressed the dream of an Independant and Democratic Croatia and Herceg-Bosna. Ivo Fabijan left this Earth too young and we miss him as a great person and as a great artist with one of the biggest Croatian souls that Croatia/Hrvatska and Herceg-Bosna ever produced.
