379 new connections were made at the November Warehousing After Dark between pauses for presentations. We tried something new, using emojis to do live polling which increased engagement and allowed everyone to get a better feel for who was in the room. Emoji polls indicated that most attendees were hearing about our sponsor's companies for the first time (many "that's cool" reactions in the chat) and about 30% of the attendees were entrepreneurs (happy belated National Entrepreneur Day!). Kevin Lawton, CLTD from ‪@thenewwarehouse‬ and I kicked things off, discussing Kevin's "Hit me gravy one more time" background image, apparently his dad jokes don't get enough attention at home so saves some for hashtag#WAD 😆 Jim Mass provided an overview of ‪@dexory‬ followed by a discussion about trying to get a Guinness World Records title with their 45' tall autonomous inventory robot (turns out there's a 53' robot out there?!) Keegan Adams then stepped up and shared the story of Terminal Industries and their approach to building a true Yard Operating System to bridge what happens between the dock and gate, the TMS and the WMS. Abby Nawrocki shared how Stock: The Logistics of Inventory Donation is creating a win-win-win scenario by helping 3PLs and brands donate excess or abandoned inventory to non-profits as easily as doing actual fulfillment. The FINAL 5 picture was a bit of a special one with Misbah Virani (from #autostore) and Christopher Pride and I showing off our robot swag and Rodolfo Gomez and Keith Thomas grabbing whatever was in arms reach!
