The case involves a man named Tome who was found guilty of sexual abuse of his daughter. During the trial, a witness named A.T. made statements about the allegations outside of court, which the trial court admitted over the defense's objection. The issue presented is the admissibility of consistent statements made by a witness outside of court after an alleged fabrication or improper influence or motive arose. The most relevant fact is that the Federal Rules of Evidence only allow prior consistent statements to be admissible as nonhearsay if they were made before the alleged fabrication, influence, or motive came into being.
