In April of 1999, Allan Brown, a friend of his and Anthony Shaffer visited three of the locations used in shooting the Wicker Man. Here is the video of that. The article I have a link to was published on April 15, 1999 so since they visited the Ellangowan on a Sunday earlier in the month, it would have been on the 11th or the 4th. Gail Ashurst has written about it in Nuada #2, Postcards from the edge. 0-18:17 Burrowhead birds nesting here piece of the man from David Lally. Brown mentions the cave is a 1/2 mile up north from there. (It is south of there… Looks like more than that but ok.) Brown says Edward Woodward has been back to visit there. Yes, there are at several videos of him there, one in the Ex-S Files documentary shot in November of 1998 at the reunion at the Ellangowan and other locations. a small steep space by the hole and rocks and where Edward Woodward was thrown down. AS says the head falls down at second man site. (That’s not correct. It was shot closer to the Hero man.) stumps how many did you have: AS: 2 & 1/2, one head, a standby one for closeup work inside the cage once the fire was started, hero man in other spot. talks about animals being burned, peter snell, AS wrote note, pandas, cuddly rabbits, he (Snell) wasn’t best pleased. lots of locals used as extras, on last visit did any show? AB- quite a few did. (When was that?) how long was the shoot? a few days. most of the other of the cast had gone away after the main establishing shot. then the inside the WM shots at the shorter man where they are. very happy memories 18:17- 21:24 Ellangowan with owner… AS and AB enter the ellangowan, meet people at bar, pics on the wall, calendar in the same place as in the movie, not the same calendar though. AS meets the owner, Bill Christie, a woman in black from the Galloway Gazette, Katherine Dearden who wrote an article about Shaffer’s visit. See this link: https://twm.fandom.com/wiki/File:Shaf..., look at pics, Allan: how did the convention go? Bill: had trouble getting a hold of… but we’re thinking of having another one. 21:24 - 26:33 Anwoth (schoolhouse, graveyard and church) AS and AB by schoolhouse. old kirk, outside then in. AS remembers being there no ejaculating serpents… AB - details aren’t my strong point, kiddingly back to in front of the school house (spring flowers, daffodils, birds singing)
