DNS Policy and Technical Call, 29th September 2025

Sara Dickinson, Director of Software Development at Sinodun Internet Technologies, joined us to discuss how ADoT and ADoQ ("ADoX") are developing within the community. This activity builds on a side meeting about Authoritative DNS over TLS (ADoT) and Authoritative DNS over QUIC (ADoQ) that took place during the recent IETF 123 meeting in Madrid, with a further discussion scheduled to take place during OARC 45 in Stockholm next week. Sara explained the background to the current deployment initiative, which is intended to coordinate a range of activities that were already underway by individual parties, and also to bring in others interested in supporting the work. After the OARC meeting, there is likely to be a BF during RIPE 91 in Bucharest later this month and another side meeting on the topic during the IETF 124 event in Montreal at the start of November. We plan to bring the discussion back to this call with an update, tentatively on 8th December.
