GTA webinar: The brain organoid: a window into the donor's brain, hosted by Dr. Darrell Mousseau

Neurodegenerative diseases such as late-onset Alzheimer disease (LOAD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) are difficult to diagnose early, often relying on clinical symptoms rather than definitive biological markers. This diagnostic uncertainty can delay treatment at stages when intervention may still be beneficial. In this webinar, Dr. Darrell Mousseau, professor at the University of Saskatchewan, will discuss a brain organoid platform that models key aspects of human brain biology using patient-derived cells. By generating three-dimensional “brains-in-a-dish” containing multiple interacting brain cell types, this approach enables the study of clinically relevant neuropathological markers, including how disease-associated factors influence glycosylation of brain cell markers involved in microglial function.
