The Infinite Faciebat" is a short piece composed in G# Minor. I've learned no more than 3 hours ago that a "Faceibat" is described as a "secret" word used by Renaissance masters. Instead of signing their work with the perfect tense (fecit—"he made it"), they used the imperfect tense: faciebat ("he was making it"). This piece follows a simple movement structure of spring (establishment of melody and accompaniment), summer (dominant melody and accompaniment), fall (significant movement of melody and dominance accompaniment) and winter (Slow easing of melody out of piece and accompaniment following suite). In terms of tone structure and harmonic equivalence, this piece is quite simple- which is a part of it's goal. Primarily, I wanted this piece to convey sincerity thru compassionate expression. Essentially, a piece that states "I want to experience the whole symphony without begging to breathe; I want to breathe without demanding a melody move my feet"... a piece that embodies elegance & beauty through quiescence and seasonal movement. Now, for a more personal note- I've composed this piece in just one sunrise for my gorgeous grandmother of whom I appropriately refer to as my "Babushka". The use of the word faciebat symbolizes the timelessness of one's story. Of course, this is related to the timeless influence my grandma has imprinted upon me, and the hopeful timeless influence I want to contribute back to humanity for what I've been given. Naturally, I find it hard to fully separate my own soul from the sagacity of my symphonies; nonetheless, I lean upon these historically significant terms to respect myself and respect the compositional nature of their goals. In a way, I interpret my work as a living signature, and I do my best to inspire other's while maintain my internal inspiration for myself. One thing I find myself constantly inspired by her presence is how- even in her elder years- she maintains an atmosphere of reverence and beauty that demands no reassurance from others. Life is difficult. I can hardly begin to fully fathom the hardships my grandmother has endured to live the life she now lives. Yet, she embodies gratitude I model my own day-to-day life by. So, for my beautiful Grandmother: A Forever Beautiful, Unwilting Rose
