For the Chicken: • 1.1 lb chicken breast (500 g) • 1/2 tsp black pepper (1/2 teaspoon) • 1 tbsp garlic powder (about 8 g) • Salt to taste • 3 tbsp cornstarch (about 24 g) • Olive oil for frying For the Sauce: • 3 tbsp sugar (about 38 g) • 1 tsp chili flakes • 3 cloves garlic, minced • 1 tbsp sesame oil (15 ml) • 3 tbsp soy sauce (45 ml) • 3 tbsp apple cider vinegar (45 ml) • 3 tbsp ketchup (45 ml) • Salt to taste • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (slurry for thickening) For Garnish: • Sesame seeds • Green onions 👩🍳 Instructions 1. Cut chicken breast into bite-sized pieces. 2. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. 3. Add cornstarch and mix until evenly coated. 4. Sear over high heat for 3–4 minutes until golden and crispy. Remove from pan. 5. In the same pan, combine sugar, chili flakes, garlic, sesame oil, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, ketchup, and salt. 6. Bring to a boil over medium heat. 7. Stir together 1 tbsp cornstarch and 2 tbsp water. Add to the sauce. 8. Simmer for 1 minute until thickened. 9. Return chicken to the pan and simmer on low for 1–2 minutes. 10. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve immediately.
