In this project, I turn a broken walnut bowl into a stunning hybrid piece, embracing both its damage and its beauty. The shattered bowl became a powerful metaphor for life—how in an instant, our world can fall into hundreds of little pieces. Using gold-colored resin, I repaired the bowl in the spirit of Kintsugi, the traditional Japanese art of repairing broken objects by highlighting, rather than hiding, the cracks. This philosophy teaches us that damage and repair are part of an object’s history, making it stronger and more meaningful than before. This project reflects some of the challenges I’ve faced in recent years. With patience, time, and care, it’s possible to rebuild—not just what’s broken, but into something even stronger and more beautiful than it once was.
