Help the 72 Honda CB500 Four runs like crap

I have been trying to get the project motorcycle running good with zero luck. The bike did sit 49 years, but I did clean the carbs out good with new rebuild kits. The bike has new coils, plug wires, plug caps, plugs, new points and condensers. The points are gapped at .014, timing is set spot on, using my timing light with the engine idling at 950rpm for both sets of points. Full advance is spot on at the recommended rpm. I did set the valve lash and checked the valve timing, along with adjusting the timing chain tension. The compression is within specs on all four. I changed the metering rods.... were set originally 1notch up from the bottom. I set all four one notch higher, leaner, only for it to run worse. After that, I set them to the lowest clip hole, making it richer.... still ran very rough. It ran the best where they were originally set. The main jets are 100's. Tomorrow I am going to put the all the original parts back into the carburetors they had in them when disassembling the carbs to overhaul them, wondering if the parts in the kits are incorrect maybe. I am also going to return the clips on the metering rods where they were originally, as it seemed to run best there. The battery was almost dead. After charging it, that made zero difference in performance. I did test the charging system after charging the battery. It seems to work good.
