Around 2:45 AM on April 13, 2025, Officer Coleman Conley with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in the parking lot of the McDonald’s located at 150 Gaines School Road. He arrived on scene, and initially made contact with the driver of a black Honda sedan, who told Officer Conley that her vehicle had been struck by a pickup truck in the drive thru. Officer Conley then made contact with the driver of a white 2019 Chevrolet Colorado, who was identified as Leanna Doster. As he was speaking with Leanna, Officer Conley detected an odor of alcohol and observed other indicators of impairment. After he completed his accident investigation, he asked Leanna how much she had to drink. Leanna initially admitted to having 2 shots of Fireball and 2 beers earlier that evening. Based on her indicators of impairment, Leanna was asked to perform field sobriety exercises. Officer Conley started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test, and he observed the lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, and the onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn test, Leanna did not touch heel-to-toe on each step and stepped off the starting position multiple times. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand test. During the One Leg Stand test, Leanna failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion and put her foot down before the test was complete. Following the field sobriety exercises, Leanna admitted to consuming 2 shots of Fireball and 5 or 6 beers earlier that evening. Based on the motor vehicle crash, the odor of alcohol, her admission to consuming alcohol earlier that evening, and her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises, Leanna was placed under arrest for DUI. After placing her under arrest, Officer Conley read her the Georgia Implied Consent Notice at the scene, and she agreed to submit breath samples. Leanna was transported to the Athens-Clarke Jail for further processing. At the jail, her breath test result indicated a BAC level of 0.225%, which was almost triple the legal limit of 0.08% for drivers over the age of 21. Leanna was eventually booked into the Clarke County Jail and issued a summons for DUI – Alcohol – Less Safe (40-6-391(a)(1)) ----------------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting our channel (email us for more information).
