Kenzi, after having had a traumatic experience with her last vet, which ended in her biting him, is now visiting and getting to know the vet Leone Costa (Therwil, Switzerland). This is the fourth 30 minute session with Leone and the first after basic desensitization, where we're going into an operant phase. Chin rests on an open hand are to signal her readiness for a "procedure", removing her head OR when held making any attempt to get turn away are rewarded. In the training phase, both staying on the hand for a procedure are reinforced (click) or removing chin from hand/turning away (saying ("click") - two different markers. We son't want to build a preference for removing the chin just to get a treat. This is working well. A special thanks to Leone, who has never done something like this and is co-operating beautifully. And of course to Ms. Daniela Bienz for her amazing work from day to day with sweetheart Kenzi, helping her get past her past. Leonard "Buzz" Cecil, cert.CBST*, CTDI** & TDCH** *Cert.
