Spencer from Save Sunrise Glossies in the Sunshine Coast, drove all the way to our Wallum in Brunswick Heads to help stop the bulldozers destroying this vital and intact, indeed, pristine threatened acid frog habitat last week. The developers describe this as 'degraded land'!!!! Spencer joins Svea from Save Wallum here, discussing the area imminently under threat from the bulldozers the community stopped! In a mass act of civil disobedience on Wednesday the 17th of April 2024 hundreds of community members turned up to stop the destruction of this rare coastal heathland ecosystem. Svea and Spencer explain here the next proposed steps in the development, the community is defending right now - destroying frog habitat, to create ARTIFICAL FROG HABITAT, that Svea, an environmental scientist, describes as then likely to introduce cane toads, which are currently ABSENT from controversial proposed housing development at the Wallum site.
