“Chattanooga Choo Choo” was composed by Harry Warren, with lyrics by Mack Gordon. The big band/swing tune was originally recorded in 1941 by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra, and was featured in the film “Sun Valley Serenade” in the same year. On December 7, 1941, the song became a US No. 1 hit on the Billboard Best Sellers chart. In 1942, “Chattanooga Choo Choo” became the first song to receive a gold record, presented by RCA Victor for sales of 1.2 million copies. Through the years, numerous performers have recorded the song, including the Andrews Sisters, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, Harry Connick, Jr, John Denver, and the Muppets. With pianistic choo choo sound effects, Charles Manning improvises the hit song “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” a favorite for swing dancing!
