In this video, we explore 9.21 km (5.7 miles) of the East London Line, beginning with a western dive under the South Eastern Main Line then travelling on the original section of the East London Line. Beneath the River Thames, we pass through the oldest tunnel on the entire London Overground network, originally opened in 1843. Shortly before arriving at Shoreditch High Street station, we cross over the West Anglia Main Line as well as the Great Eastern Main Line, then travel on the Kingsland Viaduct, which was built in the 1860s, but was disused from 1986 until it was reopened to carry the London Overground in 2010.
