“It twists and winds like a railway should". Come trainspotting on the north-west coast of Tasmania, where one of Australia's most spectacular railway lines has been operating for 151 years. Adrian Cooper hears the first train into Burnie every day from his bed and he rarely misses a day spotting and photographing trains on a line that hugs the coastal cliffs and beaches and right through the heart of little coastal towns like Penguin and Ulverstone. Since 1978 it’s been freight only on the line but Adrian, like a lot of other Tasmanians, has vivid memories of travelling on the Tasman Limited passenger service which once ran all the way to Hobart.
