Back in November last year we hosted an event at NEXUS to celebrate the launch of our open research champions network and the Open Research Hub – a one-stop-shop to support colleagues to put open research into practice. Across all schools and institutes, there are more than 50 Directors of Research and Innovation (DoRIs), who act as champions to promote open research. Supported by Open Research Adviser Kikachukwu Oluonye from the Library, DoRIs are uniquely placed to advocate for open research within their disciplinary specialism and to help us understand discipline specific challenges and barriers. At this online event we will hear from Kikachukwu about progress since the launch, and from Dr Myles Gould and Dr Roger Beecham, DoRIs both based School of Geography. Myles will talk from perspectives of the School's DoRI, and Roger will talk as the DoRI for cross-cutting inter-disciplinary Leeds Institute of Data Analytics (LIDA). Myles will discuss the wide range of disciplines and research methodologies that come under Geography, from STEM to Social Science and encompassing both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, while Roger will talk about challenges and opportunities in adopting Open Science methods and practices in data-driven social science. Myles and Roger will also offer reflections on their and their fellow DoRIs roles in championing Open Research to drive cultural transformation.
