So grab a coffee, sit back, and enjoy the calm, coastal charm of this tropical city. Bushland Beach is located about 20 km northwest of Townsville's city centre. It’s part of the suburb of Mount Low, and it's one of the few beachside suburbs in the region where you can enjoy wide open beaches, gentle waves, and stunning sunrises without the crowds. We arrived early to catch the fresh sea breeze and peaceful morning vibes. The sound of waves, the soft sand under our feet, and the vastness of the Coral Sea made it the perfect setting to unwind and start the day. Bushland Beach is known for: Long, clean beaches ideal for walking, fishing, or just relaxing. Beautiful views of Magnetic Island, especially at sunrise or sunset. A family-friendly environment with playgrounds, picnic areas, and even a local tavern. Its growing community of people looking for a quiet, relaxed lifestyle while still being close to Townsville city. This beach truly gives you the feel of being far away from the hustle and bustle, even though it’s only a short drive from the city. Once breakfast was done, we hopped back into the car and took a scenic drive through Townsville, so that you could get a glimpse of what daily life looks like in this beautiful city. Townsville is located on the northeastern coast of Queensland and is known for its mix of natural beauty and growing urban infrastructure. It’s the largest urban centre in northern Queensland, with a population of over 180,000 people. Some facts about Townsville: Home to James Cook University, one of Australia's top universities for tropical research and marine science. It’s a gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, Magnetic Island, and Paluma Range National Park. The city enjoys over 300 days of sunshine every year—earning it the nickname “Sunny Townsville.” The Strand, a 2.5km long beachfront promenade, is one of the city’s top attractions with views, cafes, water parks, and picnic spots. Townsville played a significant role in World War II as a military base and has a rich history, visible in landmarks like Jezzine Barracks and Kissing Point Fort. It’s a regional hub for health, education, and defence, with one of the largest army barracks in Australia—Lavarack Barracks. The city also hosts the North Queensland Cowboys, a professional NRL team, and has a strong sporting culture.
