Furniture Upcycle: Making an old household Item Look Fresh and New using some Paint. Simple, easy painting project. Turn something tired nto something fantastic! This video shows how easy it is to add a bit of paint, to completely change the look of a household item. This is a great way to upcycle or repurpose an item, rather than get rid of it. Simply clean, finely sand, and add two coats of paint. Materials Needed: Household item like wood candlesticks Fine sand paper Masking tape Paint for wood (oil or water based paint) Small paintbrush Water to clean brush (if using water based paint) White spirit to clean brush (if using oil based paint). In this video I use Gild High Lustre Metallic Silver paint for interior and exterior use. This is a tough and durable paint for wood or metal. The paint tin says it is 'ideal for craft projects'. This is an oil based paint so there is an odour and ventilation is needed. I bought this tin of 180ml paint for £2.99 and it's great value for money. I was able to paint two coats onto a large mirror approx 66cm x 86cm (26" x 34") and two coats onto the candlesticks. The mirrors and candlesticks are both pictured in the video. The mirror and candlesticks turned out really well. I love the metallic silver paint and I can't believe a small 180ml tin was only £2.99. It covers really well. This would be a great charity shop hack project! Simply find a wood or metal household item, like a mirror or small table in a charity shop, and paint it to make it look new! This is a fun, easy creative project that could transform lots of items in the house. Save money by upcycling! Recuse and recycle where possible.
