Grasnell Turner, affectionately known as Uncle Willie, celebrated his 100th birthday on January 31, 2026. Born in 1926 at Sandy Street, Buccoo Point, Tobago, Uncle Willie has been a pillar of his community for decades. Over the years, he actively contributed to numerous local organisations, including the Buccoo Goat Race Committee, Buccoo Village Council, the Masonic Lodge, and the Pretenders Steelband in the 1950s. Later, he dedicated himself to the Yahweh Foundation and the Moravian Church, where he remains an active member. Uncle Willie married Olive Best in the late 1950s, and together they raised two daughters, Peggy Roberts-Lee and Linda Toney, who have blessed him with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Beloved in Buccoo for his sea-bathing, All Fours games, and cycling well into his 90s, his century-long journey is a true testament to community spirit.
