We need that estradiol elsewhere, but if we're not getting enough for that vaginal tissue, then it's time to add in estriol as well. [00:01:46] Kirsti: You know, I was looking at my mom's tube of the 1% estradiol vaginal cream, and I noticed that it had parabens in it, which really surprised me, honestly. can you tell me a little bit about why we should all be avoiding parabens? [00:02:02] Kate: Oh, absolutely. Parabens. You know, we've got to the point where parabens are in, so many things are in a lot of the plastics. Um, we find them sometimes they're in water. We find them in our food. Um, we definitely find them in many of our personal care products. [00:02:17] Now, why this is a problem is because parabens are toxicants and they're a type of toxicant in particular that can disrupt our hormone function. Toxicants can also attack our DNA. Toxicants set up an immune response and so they can cause inflammation. And we are really beginning to understand how important it is to reduce inflammation throughout the body because inflammation is at the root of so many diseases that there are in the body. [00:02:49] So the more we can do to reduce the amount of parabens that we have in our body, you know, the, the, the better we are setting our body up for success. [00:02:59] Kirsti: You know, it's interesting that most doctors are pushing estradiol cream for vaginal and urinary tract atrophy when little old estriol does the trick so well.
