Episode # 5822 MR. WILSON’S WIFE - PART I Original airdate: 4-05-59 In the first of a two-part series, Loretta Young stars as Vera Wilson, an intelligent, beautiful woman with a devoted husband, a flawless home, wealth and social position. Before her marriage, Vera was a busy executive and now with so much leisure time on her hands she becomes an alcoholic. Finally faced with the realization that her self-indulgence is threatening her health of that of her family, she and her husband (played by Claude Akins) seek the help of a psychiatrist and start to rebuild their crumbling word. Claude Akins had a long career acting on stage, screen, and television. Powerful in appearance and voice, Akins could be counted on to play the clever (or less than clever) tough guy, on the side of good or bad, in movies and television. He is remembered best as Sheriff Lobo on the 1970s television series B. J. and the Bear, and later The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo, a spin-off series. Akins died of stomach cancer in Pasadena, California on January 27, 1994 (aged 67).( He was thought to have been born in 1918, making his age at death 75; however, Akins' son said his father was born in 1926.) The cast also includes, Joseph Wiseman, Joan Sudlow and Addison Richards. Joseph Wiseman was a Canadian America theatre and film actor, best known for starring as the villain Julius No in the first James Bond film, Dr. No in 1962. Wiseman was also known for his role as Manny Weisbord on the TV series Crime Story, and his career on Broadway. He was once called "the spookiest actor in the American theatre". He was married to dancer, teacher, and choreographer Pearl Lang from 1964 until her death in February 2009. Wiseman died on October 19, 2009 at his home in Manhattan at age 91, having been in declining health for some time Joan Sudlow was an actress known for her appearances on The Twilight Zone (1959), Queen for a Day (1951) and Matinee Theatre (1955). She died on February 1, 1970 in Hollywood, California from complications from fall at 79. Addison Richards was a prolific actor in film and television who appeared in more than three hundred films between 1933 and his death. A native of Zanesville, Ohio, from 1957-1958, he appeared in the recurring role of J.B. Barker in nine episodes of Jackie Cooper's NBC sitcom, The People's Choice and would go on to become a familiar face on television of the era. Richards died of a heart attack on March 22, 1964 (aged 61) in Los Angeles, California. His interment was at Oak Park Cemetery in Claremont, California. (Although a news story in the March 26, 1964, issue of the Santa Cruz Sentinel says that services were held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.)
