McDuffy's Kajukenbo Grab Arts 1&2 with Sigung Terrence McDuffy

In Kajukenbo we have Punch Arts (how to defend against a punch) Grab Arts (how to defend against a grab), Traditionals (more advanced grab arts), Rotations (more advanced punch arts), Stick defense, and Knife Defense. We also train point fighting, boxing (American and Chinese Kung Fu), and Danzan Ryu Jiujitsu (as well as Brazilian Jiujistu). This may seem like a large puzzle of styles but the beauty of Kajukenbo is the endless hours spent making the pieces fit. The four main branches of Kajukenbo are (from OakdaleMMA.com): "Kajukenbo Kenpo (Emperado Method/Traditional Hard Style): Focuses on the original hard-hitting, fast-paced style. Ch'uan Fa: Emphasizes Chinese martial arts influence, focusing on fluid, circular movements. Tum Pai: Incorporates both hard and soft techniques, often described as a blend of internal and external movements. Wun Hop Kuen Do: Founded by Al Dacascos, this "combined fist style" is known for its versatility and adaptability." McDuffy's Kajukenbo fits mainly in the Emperado Method camp but versatility and adaptability are key components of our curriculum. As the spirit of Kajukenbo is taking what works and discarding what doesn't (this can be super personalized) we do not close ourselves off from any potential martial arts philosophy or technique and remain open to growing with the art.
