Stop Sciatica & Lower Back Pain (60+): 3 Simple Exercises for Lasting Relief

#sciatica #seniors #seniorhealth Free eBook: The Sciatica Recovery Roadmap: www.scaticaphysio.com So one of my favourite things to treat in my physiotherapy clinic is sciatica with people who are over 60. So why is that? Well, because it's SO easy to fix. Here's why. Age makes a difference because of what happens to our discs and the structures around it. Under 40s tend to have good level of disc health and that means that they have a high water content in their disc. Conversely, as we get up into the over 60s category, we get a reduction in water content. Now that leads to a narrowing and the disc becomes smaller and loses its height. And so what we have then is a situation where is less likely for disc herniation to take place because of the less lower level of water content. All this results in the primary issue being related to stiffness in the lower back joints. So the solution is to mobilise the area. Here are 3 exercises to help do this: 1. Lumbar Rotations 2. Pull Over Rotations 3. Hip Flexion Rotations Nigel Wilman is a fully qualified physiotherapist (BSc Hons) graduating from Coventry University in 2001.
