Now the difficulty of the computer science program will vary from school to school, but the college pace and structure is much different than high school and even community college. Therefore, its important to prepare your mindset for your upcoming computer science classes and overall college adjustment. With college comes a lot of new freedom. Assignments are rarely due everyday and classes are much more spaced out, and therefore there is a lot less structure. I wish, as a computer science student that I started my programming assignments much earlier. Programming assignments typically took me the longest amount of time (and the most brain power), so leaving them to right before the deadline consistently made me exhausted and burnt out throughout my undergraduate computer science education. So, you should definitely aim to at least read the instructions of your homework assignments early on, so you know what to expect. Many students study and retain information in many different ways. I wish in college that I found out what studying habits were most productive for me. Additionally, I wish I joined more clubs throughout my undergraduate career. Career-oriented clubs (like software engineering club or computer science club), as well as non career-oriented clubs (like the league of legends club); can provide great opportunities to network with other like-minded peers and make some new friends. Side note: if you are interested in a computer science and software engineering related club at UCSD, check out the club 2 of my friends and I created called the Major Map Initiative: https://majormap.ucsd.edu/ Another major thing to look out for as an undergraduate computer science major is internships. Although many internships will be primarily locked to sophomores and juniors, it never hurts to consistently check what is available. Software engineering and computer science internships will make the job search after graduation much less stressful (or at least I hope so haha). Lastly, if you need help or just generally looking for advice, professors are great resources to reach out to. Computer science professors specifically from my experience, have been incredibly smart and well connected! #college #computerscience #computersciencemajor c r e d i t s 🎵 ---------------------------------------- Mama Aiuto - Small Town Palm Trees https://chll.to/c2c1a6ac Ezzy - ny90 https://chll.to/e54b7ef3 Philanthrope, Leavv - What Was Before https://chll.to/ecaa6076 Blue Wednesday, Felty - Caffeine https://chll.to/c4dde905 d i s c l a i m e r ---------------------------------------- I do not claim to own any or all of the pictures/footage that may be shown in this video.
