This was just going to be an instrumental, but things got out of hand and so here we are. I didn’t realize how rare/unplayed this game is until just the other day so I doubt most listeners will have any idea what I’m talking about, haha. The premise of the game is you start out as a fish in 450,000,000 B.C. and slowly evolve into more complex life forms over time, until you eventually become a human. It’s a really fun and captivating action RPG. Honestly, I would never have played it had it not been for emulation. It’s got some really fantastic music and the track that I chose for this cover is particularly haunting. Somehow it fits absolutely perfectly with the vibe of the beginning of the game, with “survival of the fittest” being nature’s one rule. It’s beautiful and terrifying at the same time. Most normal people would choose to do something involving ghosts or vampires for a Halloween video, and I choose to sing about the harsh cruelty and brutality of nature? I’m weird. Just the same, I really hope you guys dig this one. I went way out on the limb here and tried some new things. For one thing, I tried singing a lot softer than I normally would to give it a more creepy tone. I sang the main vocals twice then panned them so they are each coming out of separate speakers. It sounds especially spooky if you listen with headphones. Also, I was attempting to mimic the sound of pizzicato orchestral strings by palm muting the classical guitar and plucking it. It mostly worked. I did two separate pizzicato tracks in two octaves, but only one is shown in the video. I wanted to get three videos out this month, but I was asked to perform at a local convention a couple weeks ago and it really threw my schedule out of whack. It was at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo and it was a blast. I got to meet the legendary brentalfloss, who happens to be one of the coolest people I’ve met in a long while. The whole experience really got me thinking and I’ve decided that I would like to make live performances a “thing.” I’m not sure how or when, but it’s on my mind. Ideally, I would like to put together a small band and play some conventions. Finally, I want to let you guys know that I have something really big in the works right now. If all goes to plan, it will see a release in the second half of November. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I’ll just say that Nov. 22 is the one year anniversary of my Terra cover, which was my first serious cover with lyrics. Composed by Koichi Sugiyama with lyrics and arrangement by me Original: • Видео LYRICS Brave new world full of life 'neath the waves Young as it is, don't forget that you are never safe Cold darkness reaches far as I see Don't turn your back, in this place you'll find no sympathy Cruel players in a game with no rules The weak feed the strong, learn to play or you'll be made a fool Pray for grace in the case that you fall A flashing of fangs, it's fight or die when your backs against the wall
