The Xueshan East Ridge traverse is the final ridge segment of the Xueshan Mountain Range before it enters the sea at the northeastern corner of Taiwan. This route can be divided into three common segments: the full route, the northern section, and the southern section. The full route starts at Fulong Train Station, goes through the Longlong Historical Trail, and passes through Longlong Mountain, Longlin Mountain, Yinggeshi Mountain, Dahuo'ao Mountain, Shicheng Mountain, Fulong Mountain, Dahu Mountain, Tongpanhu East Peak, and Tongpanhu. It ends at Dali Train Station, covering a total distance of approximately 15.8 km, which takes about 7 to 8 hours to complete. It is an A-to-B traverse route. Along this route, hikers will pass through historical trails, verdant grasslands, towering silvergrass, and pristine forests. Due to the continuous mountain range, many sections of the route are along ridgelines. In addition to the intense sun exposure, hikers will need to use ropes to navigate steep ascents and descents over multiple peaks, which tests their physical endurance. Because the full route is quite long, many people opt to split it into the northern and southern sections to complete this beautiful trail.
