I was looking at Realtime Trains that morning, planning a day out to Malvern which never happened, as I saw this railtour listed. For some bizarre reason RTT was showing it as "cancelled" even though it was still running, yet other sites like Traksy wasn't showing it as "cancelled". It was running over 2 hours late though, becuase 43055 was having brake issues. The set did actually fail at Craven Arms but they managed to get it going again. The fact that this was running late really did work in my favour, as I was able to go down to my local and catch both the outward and return legs. This was LSL's long formed Midland Pullman HST set, with powercars 43059 and 43055 powering the train. As mentioned, 43055 was having problems with the brakes, and the delay started right from the get go. It was supposed to leave Barrow in Furness at 05:26, but left at 08:09, 163L. It eventually arrived at Paignton 134L at 15:08. The departure time back to BIF was 15:37 - 25 minute turnaround time seemed cruel for the passengers who had paid a lot of money for this tour, however I think they did have a couple of hours to explore Paignton. The train departed at 18:09, 152L, and arrived back in BIF at 01:26, still 152L. This just goes to show that things can happen with railtours and an create a knock-on effect on people's days. Though I do feel sorry for the passengers, LSL or Midland Pullman aren't to be blamed for with brake issues. Anyway, on a positive, it was great to see the long set, the HST looking beautiful as ever, and sounding spectacular on the return! I may have overdone it on the second clip with trying to reduce the blurriness, still getting used to DaVinci Resolve!
