This is Part 2 of our series on how to break down the Alum Cave trail to Mt LeConte into smaller sections. In this part we break down the third and fourth sections of our hike. The third section begins after Alum Cave bluff and is moderately strenuous. This section takes us out around the end of Peregrine Peak. You will have several opportunities to see the Chimneys and Clingman's Dome. We walk by Gracie's Pulpit and then there are a few opportunities for a private place to potty. The fourth section is the hardest for me. It's approximately 2/3s of a mile of strenuous climbing. This section follows Huggin's Hell which is several hundred feet below, so we refer to it as Huggin's Hell. Take your time through here. Eat a banana, drink some electrolytes, but hydrate!
