Does double the oak mean double the flavour? Let's find out! This is the Double Oaked Irish Whiskey from the Whistler and it is their version of an entry level whiskey. There are a lot of budget Irish whiskeys on the market, and this whiskey doesn't look to separate itself from the pack, but instead acts as a strong example of a classic Irish whiskey. Taking a blend of 80% grain and 20% malt, aging both in bourbon casks and finishing the blend in an oloroso sherry cask makes for a solid, 'middle of the road' whiskey. It also clocks in at 40% ABV, making it a very easy sipping Irish whiskey that is at home in a glass for sipping as it is in a cocktail. In fact, The Whistler themselves recommend trying this whiskey in a cocktail, so I will be doing exactly that by making a spiced pear old fashioned, which you should absolutely check out! The Whistler Double Oaked Tasting notes: Nose: Caramel and sweet vanilla, with some floral honeysuckle and a hint of sherry influence Palate: Caramel apples and a touch of oak spice and warming ginger Finish: Soft and smooth, with the notes from the palate fading relatively quickly and nothing new coming up to the fore. ------------------------------------------------------- I'm a total whiskey nerd and this channel is all about Whiskey, Whisky, Bourbon, Rye, Pot Still Whiskey and Single Malt Whiskey. I'm always on the hunt for the best whiskey and love making whiskey review videos. My passion is for Irish whiskey, but I'm open to looking for the best Bourbon or the best scotch too! I'm an Irishman, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying whiskeys from all around the world, from Kentucky bourbon to Japanese single malts. I also love making cocktails, especially whiskey cocktails (or whisky cocktails) and really enjoy taking a classic recipe and adding my own twist to it, or making simple, 3 ingredient cocktails Make sure to subscribe for reviews every Wednesday and cocktail recipes every Friday! https://www.youtube.com/channel/TheWh...
