Kukonhiekantie. half-barrier device Saarijärvi

In English: Filmed at July 24, 2018. Railway connection between Äänekoski and Saarijärvi at Jyväskylä-Haapajärvi line is silent and have got quite a small rail traffic volumes. By that almost all level crossings are unguarded at whole Äänekoski-Saarijärvi railway connection. But two of those level crossings are exceptions, which of this Kukonhiekantie is one of them. It is a level crossing that's been equipped with a half-barrier device originating probably from as far as mid 1970's. The half-barrier device have got pairs of two-lighted light-signals at both sides of the level crossing. Pair at northeastern side is made by Ericsson and pair at southwestern side is made by Swarco. The southwestern mast had originally single two-lighted light-signal made by Ericsson but it was changed to current Swarco's light-signals in 2011 when new road arrangements forced to do so. Masts at both sides of the rail have also cast-iron bells made by Ericsson. Originally the name of the level crossing was Kukonhiekka II, but it was changed to current name about two years before filming this document to avoid any confusions with the name. While rail traffic volume is quite a low, the road traffic volume is moderate. When I'm documenting this level crossing you can see things like some parts of Finnish national road 13 and Saarijärvi rail yard on the background. At filming moment the weather was sunny and very warm with temperatures rising to over 25 celsius degrees.
