Johann Schneider’s Allabreve is a compact German Baroque fugue—energetic, clear, and driven by strong counterpoint. For this recording, I went for full organ with roaring pedals on the legendary Schnitger sound of the Martinikerk (Groningen) via Hauptwerk—bold principals, brilliant mixtures, and a pedal presence that really lets this fugue speak. He is often mentioned as having studied keyboard with Johann Sebastian Bach, and he spent much of his career as organist at Leipzig’s Nikolaikirche.
