Bleaklow moorland is one of the most remote and evocative locations in the whole Peak District. The crash site of the B29 Superfortress is a must-see for anyone hiking in the area. Hidden from sight, you effectively stumble across the wreckage as you stomp the boggy peat-covered ground in the direction of the highest point from Snake Pass (A57) over-looking Manchester in the distance. It's easy to see how the accident may have happened. It's a very exposed area of the Peak District and the weather conditions can be very challenging at times, with strong winds and heavy cloud cover. However, on a clear, calm day the crash site has some of the best panoramic views in all of the Peak District. #bleaklow #peakdistrict #crashsite
