Welcome to my channel! This is Andy from I love languages. Let's learn different languages/dialects together. Special Thanks to 林lin君 Ni¹ hao¹! ngo¹ cii¹ Andy. Ni¹ hao² fu¹ hao²? Hello! My name is Andy. How are you? Let's talk about the Jingning Wu dialect. Jingning Dialect The Jingning dialect belongs to the southern Wu dialect’s Chuzhou subgroup. It is primarily spoken in Jingning She Autonomous County, Lishui, Zhejiang, China. Most speakers reside in Jingning itself, though some are also found in areas bordering Fujian and Wenzhou. The total number of speakers is approximately 80,000. The Jingning dialect has unique grammatical features. Unlike Modern Chinese, it contains many prepositions, and the origins of numerous words remain difficult to trace. Jingning Culture Jingning County is China’s only She Autonomous County, where the She and Han ethnic groups coexist. The Jingning dialect is the language of the Han people in the region. Due to its mountainous terrain, the county’s development lags behind other parts of Zhejiang, leading about one-third of its population to seek work elsewhere. This video is created for educational, language awareness, and language preservation purposes. It aims to provide valuable insights and knowledge to viewers, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of different languages and their unique characteristics. By raising awareness about linguistic diversity, the video seeks to foster a greater respect and recognition for various languages, particularly those that are endangered or underrepresented. Additionally, it contributes to the preservation of languages by documenting and sharing linguistic knowledge, thus ensuring that these languages and their cultural heritage are not lost to future generations.
