The 7th TEN4CT (Thermal Energy Networks for CT) meeting, took place online on Thursday, January 29, 12:30–1:30 PM. Discussion included the following: The Union Station geothermal system. Steven Winter, Executive Director of the New Haven Office of Climate & Sustainability, will speak on the city's new Union Station transit-oriented development project, which will incorporate a network geothermal system to heat and cool the redeveloped station, up to 1,000 residential units, and multiple commercial spaces. He will provide an update on the design of the geothermal ground loop and station retrofit, and the plan for securing the federal investment tax credit and financing through the Green Bank. Funding the CT TEN Grant and Loan program. The program was authorized in 2025, but not funded. On February 4, the CT General Assembly will begin its 2026 session, so this is the time to discuss and then implement a plan to get this essential program funded. The purpose of the program is to provide CT communities with funds to conduct feasibility studies that look at the opportunities for local TENs. Massachusetts and Colorado already have programs like this. Feasibility studies identify the potential location and size of projects in a community; they are a crucial first step towards securing additional public and private funding.
