This talk focuses on my second principle—Detachment. Here, I’ll explore the concept of attachment, examine how attachment and aversion are two sides of the same coin, and how they contribute to suffering. It also explores ways to recognize when such suffering occurs. Additionally, I'll share ways to identify the signals and feelings of attachment or aversion. And lastly, I'll address different ways to become unattached, share a lighthearted but real story about one of my attachments, and explain how love and attachment are not synonymous. Our attachments and aversions create connections to whatever we want or don't want to have in our lives. These ties keep us from being free and create a sense of dissatisfaction. By being neither attached to nor strongly averse to things or experiences outside myself, including the opinions of others about me, nor to ideas, attributes, and principles within myself, I can experience deep personal freedom.
