This short was produced by Larry Ceballos, choreographer, who was born in Chile in 1887. From 1921-1929 he choreographed Broadway musicals. From 1928 to '51 he amassed 60 movie credits including Lights of New York (1928), No No Nanette (1930), Stardust (1938), Rio (1939), and The Cowboy and the Senorita (1944 which was the first movie in which Dale Evans and Roy Rogers appeared together. Lyda Roberti was born in Warsaw in `1906, which was part of the Russian Empire at that time. During the Russian Revolution in 1917, the family escaped to Shanghai, China where young Lyda worked as a singer and where she acquired her fractured English speech. In 1927, she left China for the US where she first worked in vaudeville using her singing talent. This 1928 Vitaphone was the first of an eventual 16 movies in which she would be cast. This Vitaphone led to her discovery by a Broadway producer where she became an overnight sensation in the 1931 show "You Said It".where her stage character was of a sexy blonde with a charming accent and and shameless man-chasing (Much like her real life) which was played for hilarious laughs. From 1932 to '35 she made eight comedy films at Paramount with W C Fields, Eddie Cantor, Jack Oakie, Jimmie Durante and others. Her unique accent made her a radio personality and recording star where she recorded for Columbia. In the 1930s, she made 3 feature films for Columbia and MGM. She died at the height of her career in 1937 at age 31 from a heart attack, having suffered a life long heart illness. The Baily and Barnum segment was too boring and ridiculous and was cut out of this vid. MUSIC: 0-2:17 Over the Garden Wall performed by the Adagio Dancers. Music composed by Al Hoffman, Mann Curtis, and Alex Kramer. 2:18-4:22 It was the Dawn of Love sung by Lyda Robderti and a male chorus. Composed by Fred Coots and Lou Davis.
