#linguistics #language #languages This is the fourth episode of Ergativity & Friends, a many-part series in which we'll explore a wide variety of grammatical phenomena through the lens of something called alignment. In this video, we focus on alignment in relation to word order. We first examine languages in which word order follows an accusative pattern, using English and Turkish as examples. Next, we take a look at Päri, a language with ergative word order languages. Finally, we discuss whether or not it's possible for a language to display neutral alignment with respect to word order.
