I had a moment recently that landed in my body like truth. For so long, I tried to shape my life into the version I imagined years ago, the partner, the horses, the retreat centre, the clarity, the timeline, the “shoulds.” But sitting in my living room the other day, looking around at my life as it actually is - no kids, no life partner, work shifting, a future wide open in both terrifying and holy ways - I felt myself gripping again: “What am I doing? Where is this going? Shouldn’t I have figured this out by now?” And the harder I gripped, the more I suffered. Until something softer moved through me, almost like an inner voice whispering: “What if you’re only suffering because you’re clinging to the old plan? What if something better is trying to get in?” And in that moment, something loosened. A breath. A tiny shift. Not because anything outside of me changed but because I did. Acceptance is not resignation. It’s the moment you stop wrestling with reality. It’s the moment you unclench. The moment you say, “Okay… show me.” The truth is: Trying to control your life is exhausting. Being with what is… feels peaceful. A Course in Miracles says: “Seek not to change the world, but choose to change your mind about the world.” That’s acceptance. That’s presence. That’s where clarity can finally land. If you’re trying to figure out your future, your purpose, or your next chapter… try loosening your grip by 1%. Just one breath of “Maybe life is guiding me.” Tell me in the comments: Where are you fighting reality right now? And what would it look like to soften - even a little?
