Howdy. Today we will dive a bit deeper into the history of the Mound Builders in America (and beyond). For the better part of 1,500 years before European exploration of America, the landscape was dominated by a multitude of earthen forts, earth effigies, and elaborate burial mounds, occasionally situated on top of much larger earthen pyramids. These Mound Builder cities came to define the earliest settlements in America, as through the discovery of the lost Mound Builder Culture came an onslaught of intrigue into America’s true history. Today we will examine that history through the lens of the Old World, focusing on the earliest photographs of the Mounds of America. For within these buried structures, often hundreds of years old at the time of the first photographs, we can find traces of a seemingly advanced and unified culture which once dominated The United States and beyond.
