Genghis Khan Statue & Terelj National Park Day Tour | Camels, Eagles & Mongolia’s History

In this video, I joined a full-day tour from Ulaanbaatar to explore two of Mongolia’s most iconic destinations: the Genghis Khan Statue Complex and Gorkhi–Terelj National Park. The day began with a scenic drive to Tsonjin Boldog, home to the world’s largest equestrian statue. Standing 40 meters tall and facing east toward Genghis Khan’s birthplace, the stainless steel monument marks the legendary site where he is said to have found a golden whip—an omen of destiny and power in Mongolian culture. I explored the complex, learned the history of the Mongol Empire, and took in sweeping steppe views from the statue. From there, we continued into Terelj National Park, known for its dramatic granite formations and open grasslands. Along the way, I experienced traditional activities like camel riding, archery, and eagle handling, and visited landmarks such as Turtle Rock and Aryabal Meditation Temple. We also enjoyed a local meal inside a traditional ger, offering a deeper look into nomadic life. With a small group, private transportation, and a knowledgeable guide, this tour was an unforgettable way to experience Mongolia’s history, landscapes, and living traditions in a single day.
