Join me on a full walking tour through Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia’s capital, as I explore the city’s most important museums, monuments, and cultural landmarks. This day was all about understanding Mongolia’s history—from ancient empires and Buddhist traditions to the modern nation shaped by the 20th century. I began at the National Museum of Mongolia, where exhibits trace Mongolian history from prehistoric cultures and the Mongol Empire to the socialist era and independence. From there, I visited the Bogd Khaan Palace Museum, the former winter residence of Mongolia’s last king, filled with temples, artifacts, and royal treasures. Next, I walked to Gandantegchenling Monastery, the country’s most important active Buddhist monastery, home to the towering Migjid Janraisig statue and daily monastic life. In the city center, I explored Sükhbaatar Square, Mongolia’s political heart, lined with statues of national heroes and government buildings. To end the day, I climbed to the Zaisan Hill Memorial, a Soviet-era monument overlooking the city, offering panoramic views of Ulaanbaatar and murals depicting Mongolian–Soviet friendship. This video captures Ulaanbaatar on foot—its history, spirituality, architecture, and everyday life—through some of its most meaningful sites.
